Commentary on the sonorous accompaniment of the videos of How Do How Do The Lovely Thing
The visual tapestry that comprise the videos of S Brian
Adam's How Do How Do The Lovely Thing
are accompanied by a sonorous tapestry of S Brian Adam's Opuses. I
collaborate with Mr. Adam, as I take each image and enable the transition from
one visual composition to another. I
imbue the videos with a motion, a meditation on the similarities and
differences in each visual frame. Also,
the music is altered, compounded, changed in this process of bringing the
videos to life.
After the transitions of the videos are completed, the
sonorous accompaniment to these images is embarked upon. The sounds of each Opus are taken, not
necessarily at the beginning of the piece.
The beginning of the video may utilize the middle section of the
Opus. Then other sections will
follow. It all depends on the mood of
the visuals.
Most importantly, the Opus will usually be accompanied by
another section of the piece, simultaneously.
So, if the Opus is one hour long, the middle 10 minutes will be
overlapped with another part from that same hour long Opus, perhaps from the
beginning, or the toward the end. And
then, a third layer from another section of the same Opus will be added. Yet, each accompanying layer of music will
have its own level of volume. We may
hear the same piece of music in the next sequence of the video, but at a
different level of volume, accompanied by another, different, section from the Opus.
Brought together, these different levellings of the Opuses
are enabling the videos to be colored not only by images and colors, lights and
darks -- but by variations in the sonorous aspect of the videos. The Opuses are another color, another
atmosphere, another offering in the experience that is How Do How Do The Lovely Thing. S Brian Adam has suggested that this process
that I facilitate is as a "selector and functioning materializer"
of the videos. I choose and arrange the
Opus in such a way as to give us a foreground and middle ground and background
to the same Opus. We hear the Opus at
different levels of volume. We hear the
sonority as it is sculpted to the needs of the visual presentation.
We see the images of How
Do How Do The Lovely Thing in
different visual and dimensional possibilities, as we hear the Opuses, as well,
in different sonorous and dimensional possibilities. There is no end to existence, and within the
development of existence, we create what fills and educates and impels
existence. How Do How Do The Lovely Thing pierces the atmosphere of light and of dark -- as simultaneously, it
pierces the atmosphere of sound. It
declares itself relevant, and then harmonizes itself within the atmosphere --
fostering peace.
