The Sounds of the Universe: How Do How Do The Lovely Thing Commentary by Stephen Gambello

The sounds of the Universe are the signals of existence.   Scientists convert electromagnetic energy into audible sound.   It is converting the invisible, inaudible -- in space -- power of the Universe into an audible sound in our atmosphere.    The sounds of the Universe are multitudinous, unlimited and mysterious.   We are listening to the power of existence translated into a sonorous language that we can perceive.   S Brian Adam's Opuses, also, are a translation of his powerful essence into a language that we may perceive as sonorous.    There is only the sound of his instruments, moving through sonorous space mysteriously, yet full of intent.   We are the living embodiment of mysterium.    S Brian Adam recognizes this, and fully opens himself up to this mysterium.    He plays his keys in accordance to what he knows deep within his entity, his presence, his expansion of mind.  ( S Brian Adam has offe...

S Brian Adam's How Do How Do The Lovely Thing: a contemplative introduction by Stephen Gambello

When we close our eyes, inner darkness consumes our sight.   Our mind forms thoughts more vividly, as there are no external distractions.   As we open our eyes, but slowly, we see a gradual construction of color, light and form.   We could see the underlying structuring (for structuring is always an ongoing process) of things -- how form manifests and evolves visually as light becomes more apparent. S Brian Adam's life work seems to embrace the imagery of the visible world, but holds to the underlying force and eternal base of the prevalent invisible world:   the domain as the existence of the darkness, accessed by closed eyes. The eyes open, and then they close:  the experience of the transitioning of light and dark -- the process of slowly opening eyes.  We see a sliver of light emerge majestically from darkness, then a haze, then objects become more pronounced; slowly closing the eyes -- as we see things become dark, consolidated, th...

Commentary on the sonorous accompaniment of the videos of How Do How Do The Lovely Thing

The visual tapestry that comprise the videos of S Brian Adam's How Do How Do The Lovely Thing   are accompanied by a sonorous tapestry of S Brian Adam's Opuses. I collaborate with Mr. Adam, as I take each image and enable the transition from one visual composition to another.   I imbue the videos with a motion, a meditation on the similarities and differences in each visual frame.    Also, the music is altered, compounded, changed in this process of bringing the videos to life. After the transitions of the videos are completed, the sonorous accompaniment to these images is embarked upon.   The sounds of each Opus are taken, not necessarily at the beginning of the piece.    The beginning of the video may utilize the middle section of the Opus.   Then other sections will follow.   It all depends on the mood of the visuals.   Most importantly, the Opus will usually be accompanied by another section of the piece, simulta...

Commentary on Opus 3164 of S Brian Adam's How Do How Do The Lovely Thing

Opus  3164 opens up into sound, and there it remains.  There is no music, no melody, but there is a familiarity.   I feel the underscoring of a mind traveling through its own awareness as existent conscience.  Sounds remain constant.  It is an atmosphere of an environment.  Life exists within this state of sonority.  It is deep, dark and without a trace of sentiment.  It is heavy in some of the notes, yet light in others.  It emulates space.  It continues its trajectory through space.  It originates from within itself.  It is fearlessly moving into the realm of pure mysterium.  Imagination is the greatest gift, as it is the greatest inspiration in creation. Etymology  of imagine  (v .) mid-14c., "to form a mental image of," from Old French imaginer " sculpt, carve, paint; decorate, embellish " (13c.), from Latin imaginari "to form a mental picture to oneself, imagine"  ( from ...
